Yesterday, President Obama’s Inauguration for his second term once again made history and is a new beginning not only for him, but for all of us.  His inaugural speech talked about our journey – our never-ending journey to bridge the words of our Constitution.  And he continued that our journey is not complete until we commit to our equality, our journey is not complete until wives, mothers, and daughters can earn the living they rightfully deserve.

And so our journey towards reaching equal rights for women who work with their families, work for themselves or work in corporate continues as we begin 2013.  Are we compensated because of our worth, our ability?  Despite the progress being made toward gender equality in the workforce the earnings gap still persists today.  So how can we address this and earn the living we rightfully deserve?  It’s our quest, our journey to make our voices heard and stand up for what we are rightfully due.

We have the power to empower and become empowered.  We have the power to demand equal compensation, we have the power to have equal rights, we have the power to fight for what we want.  We must use this power, take control and fight for our rights.

So let’s share our strengths, embrace our fears, take the risk and live the life we so desire.  Stop following a path of least resistance, or following the expectations dictated by others.  Let your passions ignite new adventures, new challenges.  Acknowledge your wants, exercise your rights and embark on your next journey.

Share, support and grow as you embark on your journey in 2013.

Till next time…..
