A couple of months ago my granddaughter went skydiving, not only did she go skydiving, but she did it in Switzerland.  Initially, I thought how scary, how could she do something as scary as this and how could she do it so far from home?  I couldn’t believe it!  I remember her as a little girl who was afraid to go to a Halloween party, afraid to go into a dark theater.  Was this the same girl??

Yes, this is the same girl all grown up and she is letting go — living her life to the fullest, taking risks, experiencing new adventuress and taking charge.  I am so proud of her!!!!

Not long after my granddaughter’s adventure, I attended a one-day workshop presented by Sally Anderson, a leadership coach and author, founder of Freefall, Living Life Beyond The Edge. This workshop was enlightening, inspirational and empowering.  She talked about triggers, projections, what holds us back from what we really want. She asked questions like, “What motivates you when you wake up in the morning?’  It was thought provoking.

As I listened to her speak truths, I realized, her overall message was about letting go. Why are we so afraid of letting go, opening up to new adventures, opening up to taking a risk, opening up to what we truly want?  What is holding us back and why?  Is it fear? Does the unknown make us fearful or is it a trauma from our past controlling us?

The definition of fear is: an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.

If fear is an unpleasant emotion, it’s strange we give it so much power.

Life is full of uncertainties but that adds to the adventure.  Living in fear hinders us. Whether it’s fear of failure, fear of success, obstacles working with family members, struggling to balance work, family and friends we must learn to deal and accept these challenges.  We have choices and we must choose what works best and let go of what is preventing us to move forward on our journey.

Whether you choose to go skydiving, or standing up to someone you’ve been afraid to confront, let go and make the choice. Your world is waiting to be discovered and the path to your success is at your fingertips.
