It’s ironic that the topic for my blog is change, as the wrath of hurricane Sandy certainly created change for so many – Change that we couldn’t control, but prepared for it as best we could.   Barring any catastrophes’ change can be a good thing if change is made by choice.  However it can also create emotional chaos.  Many factors come into play; fear, risk, worry, or leaving your comfort zone, all, which can cause resistance.  Issues such as entitlement and approval come into play.  As women, we tend to judge ourselves through he eyes of others, yet men don’t seem to need that same approval.

In thinking about working with your family in business, or in your own business or workplace what are some factors you deal with when you want to change?  Do you validate your decision?  Do you need approval and acceptance from family members, male counterparts or fellow workers?

In many instances we feel trapped and outside influences can dictate our decision to change.  We must trust our desire to change and believe we can do anything we set our mind to regardless.

Let’s take a look at the many roles we play; the homemaker, the businesswoman, the friend, the caregiver, and how we are perceived in each of our roles within our communities, in our families, with friends and business colleagues….do these perceptions affect our desire to change… or are we strong enough to fulfill our passions?

In order to be in control of our own destiny we must set boundaries.  Boundaries are key if we are going to make any change — use hurricane Sandy as an analogy.  Sandy crossed every boundary destroying everything in it’s path.

Don’t be a victim, don’t wait for crisis to strike — Create boundaries, be strong, be empowered from within, take charge and decide what you want for yourself!  As women we tend to take care of everyone else before we take care of our own needs.  It’s time to start taking care of you!

In my desire to share the many changes I have made in my life, I’ve written my memoir, Its Never Too Late To Dance, Life’s Journey to Empowerment, Success and Change, and was honored by The Connecticut Press Club.

My dance continues, and I invite you to continue yours… Get ready, get set change, and seek your new adventures… embark on your next journey and live your life to the fullest.  Dance is my metaphor for life – so whatever you passions, whatever your dreams…“Keep On Dancin’!”

Till next time….
