Arthur D. Levy, CPA was a Partner at J.H. Cohn, LLP, one of the largest independent accounting and business-consulting firms the United States. Mr. Levy was Partner in Charge of J.H. Cohn’s family business practice and the hospitality practice. He has worked extensively with small and family owned businesses and restaurateurs in helping them meet their growth objectives, and profit goals.  Having many years of experience in the financial community, Mr. Levy was founder and managing partner of Arthur D. Levy & Co, a boutique certified public accounting and consulting firm where he used his wealth of knowledge to guide business owners in executing their goals and achieving greater financial success. Mr. Levy also founded, and was CEO of Soho Dance, Inc. the hottest Latin ballroom dance studio in the heart of Manhattan. He is a graduate of New York University and is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Levy co-founded and was Chairman of the board for The Small and Family Business Foundation Inc. a not-for profit 501(c) (3) organization that addressed issues pertaining to family owned businesses.  Family businesses sought Mr. Levy for his innovative and resourceful techniques.  He was also actively involved in the New York Restaurant Association where he spoke frequently on trends and strategies for restaurateurs.  Presently he is on the board of the New England Culinary Group and continues his work in the hospitality industry helping restaurants in the New England area to successfully grow.

Focusing on the family business and hospitality markets Mr. Levy arbitrated disputes for many 2nd and 3rd generation family businesses and worked with top chefs and restaurateurs including, Danny Meyer, Bobby Flay, Jean Georges, Alfred Portale, Charlie Palmer and Michael Romano.

Mr. Levy has had guest appearances on NBC’s Today Show, Live at Five, CNBC, Fox 5 Good Day New York, CNN, and the Morning Show with Mike and Juliet, Radio interviews included WOR, CBS(fm), KRock, WBBR and WNLK.

He has been a guest lecturer at New York University, SUNY New Paltz, The Fashion Institute of Technology, the Small Business Administration, The New York Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the American Women’s Economic Development Corporation, The National Association of Woman Business Owners, the National Speaker’s Association, the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation, The American Dental Association and the American Management Association.  He has also been a featured speaker for the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce, the Norwalk Chamber, and presented to numerous Kiwanis, Rotary Clubs and financial institutions.

Mr. Levy was honored with the Small Business Award from the New York Chamber of Commerce and Industry and also honored with as the Accountant Advocate of the Year from the Small Business Administration.

He was featured in major New York business publications: Crains’ New York Business, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post, The New York and Long Island Newsday, and The New York Times. National magazines featured him in Fortune, Entrepreneur, Nation’s Business and Family Business.  He has written numerous business articles for the Norwalk Hour and has been cited in the Norwalk Citizen, and the Norwalk Beat.

Upon moving to Connecticut, Mr. Levy obtained his real estate appraisal license. He worked as a SCORE counselor using his expertise to guide small business owners.  He is actively involved in numerous business organizations in Fairfield County including, the Fairfield Chamber, the Wilton Chamber and the Greater New Haven Chamber.   As Chairman for The Roart Group, he continues his passion for hospitality industry and counsels small and midsize restaurants on how to become more profitable and expand.  Additionally, he works with family businesses and helps them plan for succession and continuity of the family business.
